good stuff
the final track was great and the album could have used more of the progy-ness

This album justifies the direction Cavalcade went in after the very different debut - this is definitely a refinement of the previous album
Also cool that such a grandiose album clocks in at 38 minutes, little flab

For anyone (actually no-one) questioning whether I have my finger on the pulse or not, I legitimately forgot this was coming out
which is probably quite hard to do, idk

I liked Cavalcade a ton but then it fell off a cliff for me like 2 weeks after it came out and I never bothered with it again

Did you give this album a whirl, Sowing?

No not yet. But it's on my list.

Have fun. =)
It's a very eccentric album.

I thought Cavalcade was very eccentric and also a ton of fun, but there was something about it that was slightly off-putting. I don't know if that's how they've always been. Either way I plan on checking this eventually just because I know it'll be entertaining and different.

What else is on the list, Sowing?

this holds together far better than Cavalcade, though i don't know if it will have any more lasting appeal. the way this band flaunts eccentricity hasn't really changed, but they're definitely writing stronger songs this time around

@HelloJoe - It's been a busier than usual week for music because I was sent a pair of promos (Souveneer, Domestic Terminal) that I wanted to make sure I did justice to, so I'm still working on the review for the latter. As far as this week's slate, I'll probably also be checking Beabadoobee, Senses Fail, and Interpol - although Black Midi is ahead of all of them in terms of my interest.

@Johnny I kind of like that, though. I don't know, it's just very fun. I like the cartoon nature of music like this.
@Sowing Oh yes. I was going to listen to the Beabadoobee album, too. 90's nostalgia is the new 80's nostalgia. XD
