Can't wait for the typical Johnny marginal 3 [slightly] plus score.

Sounds good after the first minutes. Not sure if I like this "grittier" type of distortion or not though.

It's organic[?], earthier. It warms up the mix once you get into that first track. Really bouncing off the brass work too.

This is excellent, going to give it a few more spins and then rate honestly, but for now this is a highlight of the year after about a dozen run throughs

Don't get the hype for this at all. I mean, it's solid but nothing spectacular. The "jazz" and the BM are presented almost entirely apart from each, and neither element is particularly impressive (the jazz is better than the BM). It alternates predictably, meanders, and gets boring.

Interestingly, a Russian band (Swampborn) released a somewhat similar album the same day as this (it's much better).

I think the hype can be attributed to the preceding 2 albums. They both had massive potential, and with this album it feels like they have found the perfect balance with their songwriting. This album makes me so happy, potential future 5/5 for me.

Also, awesome review Gnocchi!

Yeah, this is worth the hype. Very seamless listen that hits a lot of different moods. Hope this gets them more attention

Different moods? Idk. There's two moods. Sad and angry lol.

I actually really like the softer sections quite a bit but the BM is very generic and does almost nothing for me. Most of the time it seems like it's there just for the sake of it.

This is how I've felt with most bm releases this year. Not many were awe inspiring, to say the least. Check out that Weigedood from January, that one is a hell of a journey.

On it Pika.

You should check out that Swampborn I mentioned. Kind of a similar approach to this but way more intense and engaging.

I could see you 4'ing that one.

Anyway, spinning this one more time to make sure. The sax is lovely, absolutely steals the show.

Yeah, it's great thus far. Very coherent despite contrasting riff choices.

Also, new Saor is coming out this week, guaranteed to be a certified banger.
