Even if you did compile such a list it would still be a daunting task to keep up (nigh impossible even). I have a folder in Firefox where I add all the records I want to listen to, it is forever growing and never shrinking, stresses me out! ๐ต

this is why I've never done it, the sheer volume would be daunting and perhaps disheartening...
and I imagine there MIGHT be a tendency to skip forward a little too often in an attempt to complete more of it!
Unfortunately I do end up forgetting about things without the proper cataloguing, but the majority of the time they make 're-appearances' if you wait long enough (here / RYM etc. obvs, not just randomly in my own mind... although occasionally that happens too).

Very true. I'm still unsure whether keeping such a list going makes it easier or harder. My 2022 one currently doesn't even contain post-FEB stuff, already two months behind!

I catalog everything I listen to/plan to listen to and I'm both grateful AND hateful of my past self for doing it

you guys using excel?
I need to ascertain how to get hold of a free program I guess, as there's nothing currently on my laptop that's fit for purpose (unless I do it at work, lol)
|
| |
well theres also google sheets, open office, libre office suites
|
| |
using Excel because I mostly do music stuff on my work laptop (like right now teehee)
as far as free programs go, Google Sheets connected to a Drive is the easiest way to start and be sure not to lose everything
|
| |
I feel like the solution might just be 'do it at work' lol (it will also be easy to access my ratings this way).
thanks everyone

That's a very good solution yes. Work time is new music time for me usually. Or music listening time at least, so that means 38 hours of it per week.

Killer summary Trifo, you should write more [2]
Will check this (at some point lol)
Also interesting convo u guys had back there, I keep folders in Spotify, divided by month, and then I choose 7 albums per week, not more, not less. At the end of the month I make a top 10 and anything ouside that gets deleted.
That was the theory. The reality is me adding albums out of season, losing track of what I heard, and revisiting albums just because.

Thanks Dewi and that system sounds very nice on paper, keeping the actual listening rather manageable. I might try it for some time, see whether it works for me.
Neek it's destiny listen to this!

Even more imagery-rich now that you and your banana (... ๐?) have entered the thread Kor ๐
Also 37 is a wonderful number I lived there once in a street a long time ago.
Also Also the warm dubby groove of Buckle Up into the Bjรถrky/Bethy cold of Sea is so cool.
