nice writeup shemsboi, been enjoying this record but like all of failure's albums it just doesn't fully click for me :[

"failure is a lifeless version of nirvana"
Ironic given that all their original members are still alive. Too soon?
Also, RE the artwork I was considering licensing artwork from a guy who's also dabbling in NFTs. Pretty similar art style too. Astronauts in odd situations.

Oh nice I’ve never been featured before, thanks guys
I always thought this was a band who was viewed as criminally underrated as they never got the recognition they deserved in the 90s but the first page is all people saying they’re overrated 🙃

It reminds me of Hipgnosis' style which might explain why I like it so much. I love those guys

Album art drew me to this, gonna check since the review implies it's heavy.

Oh shit there’s still albums being reviewed. Good feature.

Depends what you mean by heavy mate. It’s dissonant and has some heavy tones (especially the bass) but it’s 90s alt/grunge in style with all clean vocals, certainly not metal.
Makes you nod your head not bang it!
|
| |
^^By saying heavy, I mean alternative heavy, not metal heavy.
If it’s anywhere near outfits like Narrow Head, Yellow Devil Sauce, Alice In Chains, Nirvana etc., I will be content.

This is great but I wouldn't call it heavy
|

^^Fair enough, if it ain’t heavy, it’s not a deal breaker, it’s just that most of my favorite alternative happens to be heavy too.

I played this with some bassy speakers and I can confirm it's got a certain heaviness to it
Lyrics also center around some existential themes

It's like THEMATICALLY heavy, man.

Awesome album from a consistently awesome band

Eh, I think Starset's new record is a stronger sci-fi exploration.

Ya they sound nothing like Nirvana because they’re not a poppy grunge band.
