I still cannot understand why she even released Chemtrails, now in context with this album, it was totally pointless release and she could save best songs for this album.

I really liked chemtrails, I found it a more "pop" outing and an easier listen although still very much influenced by NFR. But that's just me

The last sentence of the first paragraph was enough for me to pos this. : D
Will listen and (maybe) write a review myself once I'm de-institutionalized.

For the record, I enjoyed more the parts of your review that dealt with LDR herself and the evolution of her persona / style / life / story than the parts of it that actually evaluated the music itself.

P.s. Tone down the ... thesaurus abuse when you construct your sentences. For example, "idiom" could have simply been "presentation" or "repertoire". Similarly, "debutante", although making sense, sounds a bit sketchy in this context. There's no need to complicate your expression that much. : )

P.p.s. Brooklyn Baby is a song I could and WILL never get (into). Thus, your mentioning it in the specific context that you did makes no sense to me at all personally. Would you care to elaborate?

the trap beat is worth at least .5 by itself, okay maybe not but yeah.

This is becoming insufferably dull, albeit slightly more engaging than the last two overall.

Well, BB is a song that seems to reference her life directly. She mentions her partner at the time (Barrie-James O'Neill) as her "boyfriend in a band", and she mentions specific press scenarios (like criticism of her retro imagery which was prevalent at the time), while doubling it as a dig at hipster culture (and I think she was specifically getting lots of hipster backlash). So it was a tiny window into her personal mindset (as opposed to some sort of character scenario) and how she was not enjoying what was being said about her (O'Neill has, in an interview, stated that she took the press commentary to heart).

Just to explain, I often use the word idiom in normal life (I've always liked it since seeing Monty Python and the Holy Grail), and I'm not sure "repetoire" would have worked as a replacement... maybe style but I like the word I chose, but yeah I see what you're saying.

I like debutante in context though considering LDR's imagery and themes, so I'll die on a hill for that one.

"than the parts of it that actually evaluated the music itself"

Fair enough, my knowledge of music theory is not strong, so I can see that. All I can really do is say how I perceive it.

Gotcha. All fair enough then!

To be precise, when I was saying I enjoyed certain parts of your review more than others, that was not supposed to imply that you are more knowledgable on personal biographies and lifestyles than you are on the music (theory) itself.
I was just stating my personal preference for which parts of your writing style, and which of your choice topics of focus I like more.

All good, and even if you did, that's actually fair to imply, I think many of the people on this site know much more about the technical aspects of music than I do. I like expensive words but I only know the cheap chords.

This is starting to settle in pretty nicely after an unimpressive first run.

I removed my rating for now, this might be a bit better than I thought.

I can't wait for sput's second review of this.
This first one is already so exhaustively evaluative and just overall well-rounded, that it makes me curious to see an alternate take. A different approach, if you will.
Hmmm...

I can't believe I almost wrote this off. This is shaping up to be her clear #2 behind NFR. Almost done my second spin, and Black Bathing Suit and Dealer are both 5/5 songs. Also, the album's mid-back sections are way better than its earlier tracks.
