"Only one rises to the occasion: opener “The Color Of The Sky” is likely the best Thrice song since “Anthology”"

Hard agree

Review is good, albeit I think you're giving it too much of a pass. The more I listen to this, the weaker it appears. I'm at the point where I really don't understand how any Thrice fan can consider this good, it's just so uninspired, slow and dull

The only good songs here are the two openers imo. Everything else is either boring or completely sucks. I'm not the biggest Thrice fan but it's kind of weird how restrained and quiet they've become. I haven't even heard Palms but apparently it's much worse than this. Might take a listen for academic purposes

I've been a fan since the beginning and I honestly think this is the best they've sounded in a while. YMMV I guess.

The weirdest part of this album is that it has no energy in the back half. Dandelion Wine is a great song but it's not given enough room to stand out because it's surrounded by a bunch of other mid-tempo tracks.

I gave this about two full listens. It’s even less dynamic and interesting than Palms, which is a massive disappointment. There’s not a single song on here that I’d consider to be in the upper third of Thrice’s discography.

unfortunate that this will be the main review shown to people, Garth's is much more accurate [2]

"All fumbles aside, Palms was the most creative and diverse Thrice album since Beggars."

I don't think I could disagree more with this statement.

I don't think I could describe any post-Beggars Thrice as "diverse"

At a certain point, i stopped caring for this even on my first listen. Based on how they wrote all these parts, I figured these guys are def aware of what they are trying to communicate through this thing. It just doesn't feel very authentic to me.
