This is fantastic.

Edit: I may be overthinking/overanalysing this, but I really like that at the beginning of Umbra, the melody feels kind of happy, then when it comes in again, it feels more melancholic.

Thanks for the response. You succeeded with flying colours as far as I'm concerned.

One other thing I really like (among others) is how the vocals sound. They feel so raw and honest and I mean this in the best possible way. The last time I got into a newly discovered album so much was with Engine Down's Demure and that ended up becoming a ridiculously huge favourite of mine. This one is well on its way to becoming just like that.

Thanks so much jusplathemus! Vocals are the one thing that I am still trying to work on and something that I wish I was better at. I feel like I am a much better vocalist in a more pop-orientated way than I am rock to be honest, I do tend to find it hard to sing with an intensive tone. Glad it turned out okay on this record, it can always be the divisive part of our music I find.

That's an admirable feat and I think feeling "not good enough" is a huge part of being great and improving, though I also think one must be aware of this so you don't let it crush you.

I haven't (yet) listened to your previous ones, but there are many albums I dislike because of the vocals, while I like the instrumentals themselves and sorely wish they'd release instrumental versions. I don't feel like this with this album though, so the vocalist must've done something good, haha.

Also, I've just been watching a movie and despite its nice soundtrack, I've been hearing Umbra in my head throughout, so.. Thanks for the great music.

Gotta say, I love this band name.
