Great review, sums up the album quite nicely. It's amazing how consistent these guys are and keep getting 3.8 on every offering.

Cheers, definitely underrated band. Incredible stage presence, great sound, great musicians, really, they are one of my favorite bands nowadays.

Good lad Dewi. Here's to the next 100 < 3

Congrats on the century! Haven't listened to Tribulation before, where's the best place to start?

Thanks everyone! Milo, many would say Children of the Night, but my gate into the band was Down Below, which is pretty similar to this one too.

Tbf Down Below is most certainly not a bad start if you like wicked goth-rock riffs and beastly growls galore.
Great review, sooo stoked on this. This year is spoiling us with good new metal already.

nice review man. i'm struggling to rate this album, it's somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for me. I like it a lot, but it's missing some intangible quality that their past releases had in spades and I can't put my finger on it.
these guys do this style as well or better than anyone else, but I do wonder what would have happened with Nachmystium if they hadn't been derailed by addiction problems

Nachmystium? I gotta check that. Cheers, Inveigh.

idk, this is a great band to catch how they developed their sound. That said, you can start with the debut, but the Formulas of Death is where their own goth ID starts being carved, still its their most prog piece - prob my fave one together with Down Below.

Can't believe I just discovered this band.

Better late than never!

So this rules. Loved children of the night, was bored by down below, this one splits the difference. Lots of really rad guitar leads
|
| |
I think the only difference with Down Below is that tracks are shorter and more to the point here which makes it easier to digest, but Down Below has some really, really good material if you give it time to let it sink.

Saw them live in December 2019, with Ghost in Strasbourgh. Amazing performance! Really dug them, but still haven't listened to anything in particular by them. So diving in the new album, I get massive Moonspell vibes. Even the voice strucks the same. Of course all the other bands referenced in the review are true.

I get that in the goth vibe, but these guys def throw somewhat of a more glam vibe, and I disagree on the vocals, they're widely different in the BM spectrum.
I also caught them in that tour here in Lisbon, and yap, band is amazing live!
