I was thoroughly disappointed by the first half of this (minus "Neptune"), but then the second half was very pretty (Especially "Assassins"...omg). Need to spin this a few more times; could be as low as a 2.5 or as high as a 4 lol.

Sounded pretty good on first listen.

Preliminary 3.5 after a second listen. It's got a very strong 2nd half and the first half sounded better this time. Still nothing mind-blowing though aside from Neptune and Assassins; I probably prefer King's Mouth.

Neptune and Assassins for me but the two you mentioned are also great.

Slightly better than recent past disasters, but definitely not a return to their best form. There are some nice little tunes though. Last thing I really enjoyed from these guys was "Embryonic", which had its flaws too but I really liked it back then. Oh, and the 50 minute version of "7 Skies H3" was great too.

"It's basically an album of "Vein of Stars" type songs"
the only one of the singles that was anywhere near as good as Vein of Stars was Flowers of Neptune 6 :/ I like that song a lot tho so I guess there's still hope I'll get something out of this.

Yeah, agreed with Kompys + cited comment. Vein of Stars was pretty special, but it was doubly so for how it stood out on Mystics. Felt like a showstopper, not sure and album's worth of that vibe was ever going to make as huge an impact

interesting, I had the opposite reaction (enjoyed first half a little bit more than 2nd) although that could have been that I was losing interest/focus so the 2nd half sounded worse than it was
Some of the lyrics were a little cringe when I was paying attention to them, like the song directed at the mother from the dead son because he got killed in an altercation w/ the police or something like that, maybe I have it a little wrong but just seemed like a really low-hanging fruit/popularity grab to make a song like that in 2020

FANTASTIC stuff, this is! I'm one of those guys who gets his mind blown sober...can't get enough of this LP.
Keeps growing on me listen after listen and forces me to start it again when finished....addiction anyone?

So far I only have The Terror and I love it. Nice and imaginative electronic sounds.
If I check out their most well-known and praised albums I hope they're not too pop-like. I wonder where to start?

they are, maybe try Embryonic and perhaps the Miley Cyrus one

Check Embryonic and 7 Skies H3, personally I would stay far far away from the Miley collab
