Too bad really. Saw them live when everything was fine (on the surface at least). First album still has some great songs imho. But yeah, fuck this (version of this) band.

"sick of this band"
I can kinda relate, but the music they make is still interesting (imo). However, this whole bandname-shitstorm is really annoying and not a really likeable thing.

Tell that to Geralt of Rivia.

Bart is a criminal. His version of the band shouldn't even exist, let alone be signed and releasing music. The "idc who releases it if it's good" crowd disgusts me.

@Sevengill So I assume you know all the musicians you have been listening to? Imo music is not just "invented" but also channeled and there are usually a lot of people involved in creating a song. I have been listening to a lot of music and I enjoy it for what it is. I don't have time to study all artists. Maybe they are stealing candy from kids? I can understand if you have a different opinion but you saying that people with another opininon than yours disgust you, that is telling more about you than about the people you are disgusted by. Just saying.

Yeah Bart’s a total Dickhole but crazy that this is the one time separating the art from the artist is just *not* okay for the black metal folk

*Burzum being racist*
BM community: We sleep
*Dude steals band from founder*
BM: We wake.
I love Burzum and I listen to music regardless of who makes it but the double standard is hilarious.

oh my... I don't think that's possible. For sure not in this context. Read up on the history of Poland and you'll have swam through oceans of blood

Is this the band that wears rugs when they play?

"you saying that people with another opininon than yours disgust you, that is telling more about you than about the people you are disgusted by. Just saying."
As someone who's spent my life creating and studying music, yes, I hope this says something about me. The concept of having something I slaved over for years stolen is infuriating, and the fact that so many people in the industry -- I hold Metal Blade more accountable than the fans, and have made that known -- actively support someone who is making a career out of that is incredibly disheartening. I've kept very up to date on this from the beginning, and yes, I hold myself AND my idols to higher standards than most people seem to.
If Bart went off and created a masterpiece on his own, then that would be different and I'd evaluate it on its own. The art would not be the crime, but this project -- this lie, this swindle -- is poisoned so long as its mastermind is being shut out for financial gain.
Varg murdered someone but "started" my favorite sub-genre, so I uncomfortably acknowledge his contribution without giving him a cent of my money or a moment of my time outside the thing he created. You can admire Frankenstein's monster without liking Victor Frankenstein. But Bart didn't make Frankenstein. He locked the scientist in the basement and took credit for the whole damn thing, like he's done with his label screwing bands for years. It's every musician's nightmare and an affort to everything honest left in the industry, dwindling as the list is.
