Thanks bloodshy. Yeah this strays pretty far from traditional country tropes, it's just as much if not more indie-folk or folk-pop. I just love how consistently lush this is.

This is good but I wish she went further into traditional country, tbh. Give the instrumentation some more twang and warmth. The indie-folk aesthetic just isn't distinctive.

Glad you're enjoying it Johnny!
And yeah Lucman not sure I'd even label this as country, it's definitely more indie-folk or folk-pop - and I agree it's not distinctive in that it sets itself apart per se, but it's gorgeous nevertheless and I can't stop spinning it over and over again.

Hell yeah Gonz. Like I told Chan, the slower songs get their hooks in you eventually. There's nothing here that will be SOTY, but every track is a 4/5 and that's the best kind of album.

My first listen of this was very pleasant, I was also going to comment about the production. It's very soothing. None of it has stuck with me, but it was a bit of a background listen. Will return to it soon!

Interested in hearing your take after another listen or two. It's got most of the traits I've enjoyed about folk/country this year - good vocals/lyrics, superb production, and an infusion of different instruments (I'm a sucker for the flutes that appear sporadically here).

Sowing, I’m really enjoying this and Starmaker. Is there more ... ‚Country/Folk Pop‘ you can recommend?
Great review, as always. I’ll give this a few more listens before rating it.

Sturgill Simpson's A Sailor's Guide to Earth is essential and was my gateway into modern country music. From this year, Katie Pruitt's Expectations and Waxahatchee's Saint Cloud scored highly for me and both fit into the folk/pop/country vibe.

Gulf of Mexico just clicked in a beautiful way. It was already one of my favorites to begin with, now it's transcendent.
