Am I the only one that thinks this is pretty underwhelming? i comparison to part 1 at least?
Part 1 was a 4.5/5. After two listens i'm struggling to give it more than 3. The singles were definitely the best tracks.

Perhaps it helps that I didn't bother with any of the singles in advance.

Into the Surf is good but honestly one of the more forgettable tracks for me. I haven't gotten any of the songs I ranked #1-6 out of my head since Friday

I don't think this will be heavy enough for your taste, but it might be worth giving it a go anyway.
Sir, are pigeon-holing me? Jokes aside I will test that track out and see how we go.

I love how this feels like a blend between Part 1 and a classic rock album.

Neptune is awesome, definitely a top-10 song of 2019.

Neptune is definitely the best thing here but maybe I just need to find a venue to listen to music that isn't at work because this felt pretty samey to me the first time through

The last 3 songs save this from being a 2

I listened to this album driving through the misty countryside on the way to a party for my sister's engagement, and it resonated like crazy especially when 10,000 Ft. came in with those shimmering guitars right as I made the turn through a tunnel and the sun poured in through the clouds on the other side. It's definitely a good driving album.

Neptune is the most boring song on here, I'm sure it'd be cool live but I could barely sit through it.

I love how it takes its time and winds through different atmospheres. Not boring at all to me.

Josh Copperman's review kind of hit the nail on the head for me: "just another iteration on a now-standard formula."
I don't feel as though this band has really grown at all since 2013 - all their songs from Holy Fire to this could be shuffled and I'd believe it was one album. We always get a chunk of "funky" songs, some overdriven rock songs, and then the One Big Power Ballad (Late Night, London Thunder, Sunday, Neptune). In a vacuum it all sounds fine but the formula is getting really tired for me.
