Wow this is actually good? I'm surprised, but in a good way.

I thought her debut ep was fairly unremarkable. A light 3. This is a massive step up.

I thought the inconsistencies in tone were jarring and disappointing, and kind of a typical pitfall among unassured pop stars. Also the production on this... damn talk about loudness wars, some of the bass here sounds like it's going to blow up your speakers, and not in a good way at all

I mean this chicks main demograph is like 7 to 13 year old girls and all so its cool that they are listening to this over most anything else that targets that group I suppose. In a competition between gratuitous over-sexualization vs a very minimal understanding of mental health issues offset by stereotypical cloud rap culture glorification of prescription drug abuse the latter is marginally preferable? Maybe?

don't get me started. (also the album title is the purest of pure cringe. Sounds like a jaden smith tweet from 2012)

I think the promotion and singles from this kind of painted a very linear narrative that made me expect something at least conceptually cohesive and actually serious to some degree but it really just turned out quite juvenile

I kinda disagree with the whole direction of this review, given lo-fi trap aesthetics and dark, grimier sounds are now very much mainstream to the extent Ariana and Taylor are drawing on them. This doesn't feel anti-anything, a lot of it is very much in tune with the zeitgeist at this point.
