Listened to the first three off this walking into town this afternoon and got to say there's something comforting about these audio book albums, a couple of laughs, a few ear worm bits - very disposable, but hey, trap generation and all that. Lil Koz.
Also talking about smelling skunk - the Londoner in me took about three references to 'skunk' before it clicked it was the animal not the drug. I spend half my life smelling skunk.

‘trap generation and all that’ - jesus christ doof bro what are you saying
if the only way you can justify people not liking this is by claiming a ‘trap generation’ then something be up

I don’t take these albums too seriously 😐
Benji is a classic though

Doof moonlights as a janitor at the mark kozelek museum, that much is true

If you see the man live the self awareness/self deprecation is obvious, as is the humour, and the whole vibe of letting it all hang out.
I mean the criticisms are sort of warranted, and it is funny to pick holes in this approach...but also as long as you know you’re just finishing the last syllable of Mark’s own punchline. So the joke is on everyone involved...anyone talking about this, you’re part of the joke.
Boom boom splat.
There goes the cat 🐈

To clarify: I don’t listen to these last albums on repeat but I tip my hat at the whole unfiltered thing, it’s pre funny

I wish, for just one day, I could stand on that highest hill
that hill where mark kozelek stands
true
where he looks down on the people and chuckles to himself
"fools, if they only
knew"
Someone get me a guitar

Damn I never even got around to checking out the last one and he's got a new one out. I have a lot of Mark's ramblings to catch up on.

i think this album was quite a bit better than his last two Sun Kil Moon albums, but that's mainly because I found the instrumentation to be much more agreeable. I'm not sure his lyrics have truly moved me since Universal Themes. At least he isn't reading fan letters in the middle of songs anymore I guess? Review is really well done, pos.
