nothing for me
the instrumentation is fine but fairly generic

Honestly Weightless is one of the weakest songs on the record, so I can argue any of that. That opening riff is cringe lol. Hopefully "A Secret Atlantis" ends up a video.

This is apparently the 3rd part of a trilogy that began with Hymns. That explains why this sounds so similar to the last 2. You could swap around songs from these 3 albums, and it wouldn't make a real difference
Haven't really been intrigued by the. Departure's the only song I've been listening to. Apt song name

"dang this is better than in search of truth?"
Nah, that will probably remain their best album

I'm finding that I even come around to the songs I like least on this. Especially End of Silence is growing on me. I also think This Ocean is a bit less good for me than when I wrote this, though the ending is still amazing.

I was close to 4'ing it actually - I enjoy it. But I didn't because there's only like 3-4 songs I really like here. The rest are all meh but still decent. Hymns is the last Evergrey record I really connected with. There were parts here though that made me feel like I was listening to old Evergrey though. The effort was there for sure.

Didn't really get that vibe from it, but I guess if you change the guitar sound and the production you kind off have a point there. I don't mind it at all tbh, still jamming the hell out of this.

Holy moly is this great! Their best album. The production is squeaky clean. Love the electronics and dudes voice is better than ever. Songs are very unique and memorable. Way to early AOTY candidate.

I agree. Amazing album. I have to 5 it. My only possible nitpicks are that The Beacon is a little tame compared to the other tracks and This Ocean sounds more like a race to the finish line rather than a full blown finale. Production is so good. The album sounds huge. The songwriting is so tasty. It has that classic, classy songwriting style with structures that are instantly recognizable but with enough bells and whistles and substance to dig into and superb execution. I've always thought the aquatic theme works well in music and this record takes full advantage of that. AOTY so far for me too.
