"‘Don’t Tell Me Where You’re Going’ is a twangy, stomping closer that feels like a tale of unrequited love (“I’ve missed you ‘specially of late / A shadow crosses her face / Don’t tell me where you’re going, ‘cause I can’t be trusted knowing”) interjected by Frog’s"

"stomping ... Frog's"

"frogstomped"

Illuminati confirmed.

Awesome Boney! How fucking good is God Once Loved a Woman btw?

"Illuminati confirmed."

please don't ban me (again) jom

good review though, i gave this a listen and enjoyed it quite a bit. a charming and brief album to be sure. 'God Once Loved a Woman' is fantastic but i think 'Bones' was my favorite

Honestly I found this a slight step down from Kind of Blah. I think the average song quality is higher on KOB and sustained over a longer runtime (current thinking is "Catchyalater," "Irish Goodbye," "Fucking," and "Photograph" are all better than any song here not named "God Once Loved a Woman" [which I will concede is the best track from either release {and a top 5 SOTY candidate to boot}]).

This is still a neat lil' treat though, and a great review to boot.

Judy Garland is easily my favorite track after a couple cursory listens of this and blah.

Yeah, good find. I'm glad I checked.

They have an earnest quality in their delivery that I can't quite describe other than to say revivalist or down home, whatever those phrases mean.

Agreed about the earnestness, I don't know what I'd call it. I've just been calling them goofy and sincere.

I'm fine with the brevity tbh, it keeps their goofy/off-kilter style fresh in what might otherwise wear off over 40 minutes

Hawks you should check their debut Kind of Blah, it's about as good as this but catchier and slightly longer

Decided to check out this and 'Kind of Blah' on a whim last week and I'm really glad I did. These guys got something good going on.

Rules even more now. I like to play these guys while cooking for some reason. Puts me in a good mood.

It's the goofiness/weirdness. I can't listen to them and not feel better.
