Eh, the sentence is bad. Besides the wrong use of 'its'. "A glitter bomb cunningly wearing the trousers of a song" is a pretentious and ultimately meaningless thing to say.
|

"review comes across kind of flowery and obligatorily contrarian."
holy mother of irony

oh i see what you mean! i wanted to separate the points because one is political and one is aesthetic which draws into some of the reviews later claims and also because i prefer the way it looks. your way looks nicer and more professional; my way looks more mine for good or ill i think.
also yeah fearthyevil point taken!!! it's an old flaw of mine that it takes ages for me to build up steam so i did resort to an easy conceit. i'll work on it oWo

im sorry i really don't mean to be rude but i don't understand how you people can get so caught up on something so infinitesimally small that can either be attributed to personal opinion or an obvious typo. i think it's because you disagree with the rating so you're predisposed to picking apart sections of the review that are objectively o.k. at worst.

Is it flowery to say it comes across as an obligatory against-the-grain review?
|
| |
it's almost like it's because it's a negative review of something they're big fans of
whoa

maybe not but it's wrong. wines has expressed in the past how lame it is to be contrarian for the sake of it
|
| |
idk gyro it's pretty ironic to call something contrarian when you practically thrive off being a big contrarian yourself
|
| |
I mean I've criticized reviews praising some of my favourite albums ever, so I don't think that applies

also why use luculent when many other words would have worked just as well and made you looked less like a flowery tryhard
|
| |
What do you mean, Snox? I agree with everyone 95% of the time
|
| |
I know you're being sarcastic Mort but words like that are incredibly lame-sounding most of the time. Like, would you use that word in real life to describe something? I sincerely doubt it

because luculent is a word that exists?? because the meaning may be more precise for the point he's trying to convey?? because he can?? because it's more entertaining to read?? because,

I have no problem with flowery prose. Luculent is a nice word. What's the point of words if we don't use them?
I mainly just think this review is a structural nightmare.
Couldn't care less about the rating, this album has a lot to criticise.

OK to simplify one thing that would be interesting to talk about is whether or not Sophie wasn't already creating incendiary music before and why this album is being given acclaim her earlier work wasn't - more public exposure? or more high-concept airs that lose the charm? is my take.
and i promise i'm not being contrarian, though i may be impeded because of my unabashed love of Product. i know we all love a good view that differs from the norm on sputnik because that's what makes this website fun and cool to surf and browse

It's more entertaining to read some posh word that only douchebags would actually use irl?

gyro im actually not being sarcastic
also lol verdant. how the fuck is luculent more precise? is it a technical specific word? no, it lit just means "brightly shining". lol. oh so much more precise!!! oh the lucidity in using words nobody uses!!!

Album Rating: 3.0
is there not an acceptable difference between literary and spoken vocabulary
and in defence of the word choice, why is it that luculent being an uncommon word automatically disqualifies it from having a purpose? it conveys a specific meaning, it looks nice, etc.
