I wish there was an embeddable soundcloud for any of these tracks. Check the link in my first comment if you want to hear the single from the EP.

Had no idea he was releasing some solo stuff. Long time YC fan so keen to hear this.

Yeah I didn't find out until about a couple weeks before it dropped, the hype was pretty low key. I mean it's just an EP so perhaps that makes sense. Can't wait for a full album from him now.

Another fantastic review, Sowing. I sense a lengthy Yellowcard binge is upon me, so I’ll check this out as well!

Thx Atari :-)

Let me know what you end up thinking, I'm especially curious because I know you are into pop punk (not that his solo stuff qualifies, it's actually closer to acoustic folk)

checked out Vultures and thought for the first 30 seconds that it just sounded like an acoustic Yellowcard song. but that chorus somehow feels like a great progression. yeah i'mma spin this later, good writeup sowing

Yeah I mean in a lot of ways it's just acoustic YC but more improved. That in itself is pretty great honestly. I'm not sure if anyone else got Elliott Smith vibes from the second and third tracks; maybe it's just me. I mean guitar progression wise, not vocally obviously!

I'm adding this to a list of things to review. Also, I agree. As a massive Elliott fan, I get those vibes. I wasn't expecting it obviously, but hey -- at least I'm not crazy for thinking it.

Think 75% regular YC acoustic, 25% Elliott Smith

I'll put up my review of it tomorrow. I'm going to spend the rest of today listening to it a few more times. It's a really solid album. Easily one of my favorites from 2018. I'll put it up with Eat the Elephant, Little Dark Age, and Never Gonna Die.

Man I just listened to this on my really good speaker set for the first time and all I can think about is how I wish this was an LP so we'd have more songs and also so I could award it my AOTY.

The production is so simple yet effective. It's surprising how much impact it has. An LP couldn't do it any better.

I know, I just want the same results extrapolated across a full length so I can rank it #1 at end of year.

Old Friends is stunning on first listen. Gonna need to let the rest of the album marinate a bit.

The opener instantly hooks people into the EP. First note alone and you're like, "song of the year."
