1.5 I liked the first half of Chronos. Winston’s let himself down this time.
Perfect summary dude

August Burns Red and Parkway Drive are at the antithesis in terms of evolution - the former has decided to practically never ever change their sound, and their last three disc suffer from this, the latter has decided for a 'mainstream' approach that makes their music really mediocre
By memory, I cannot really recall a band that has done this style of metalcore and has managed to keep it relevant/fresh, or at least enjoyable, for more than 4/5 discs.
I won't listen to this but judging by the singles 2.5 is really, really generous

Everybody only harshly judging this record when comparing it to their old material. That isn't the way albums should be reviewed.
This is a massive, diverse, and frankly brilliant piece of metal. No two songs sound the same. There are endless memorable moments. There are plenty of nostalgic moments nodding to their older sound but people are ignoring it.
This is a career band at album number 6, doing whatever the fuck they want. But like true artists, they've crafted their most ambitious and focused piece of music yet.
If you've rated this low without being a fan of their previous work, completely fair enough. Different strokes etc.
If you are only ragging on it because 'But Horizons!', then go listen to Shadow Boxing. It's for you.
