Thought this was meant to be the glorious debut from Britain's best new band or something. Don't tell me the press lied to me.

It's for sure good, but there's too much amazing post-punk revival that came before for this to really cut it for me. Like, a lot of bands since the 2000's have touched on this kind of sound and had a lot more to say. Interpol, Iceage, Women, Viet Cong/Preoccupations, The National, Protomartyr, Savages, etc all blow these guys out of the water.

It's good this but suffers a bit from a lack of any great songs

Can confirm that they are insane live. Saw them at a tiny venue in Sydney. Really just... hungry and dedicated to it. Very thick sound - overall sounded better than the recorded versions. As on the record, songwriting is solid, but it's the definition of 'wait and see whether they build on it'.

Finding it very similar to Protomartyr's latest in terms of raw style and sound. Tried to recommend Protomartyr (who are playing here next week) to the drunken British people at the concert who were raving about the band. Weren't having any "wank yank" music apparently.

They ended the show with "Shame shame shame... that's our name". You might want to consider opening for them as a hype man.

BTW there's also a listing here for them without the (UK).

I searched Shame. Nothing came up. Thought it was... a shame.
