You listening to some shitty remaster or something? Cause i have no idea what youre talking about either.

You sure you're not listening to the full dynamic range remaster yourself? Because the original master is trash. And I love the album. But it's trash.
|
| |
I'm not talking about brickwalling or anything, I'm talking about literal mastering that makes the album sound like everything is made out of wet paper.
|
| |
I just had to presume the remaster with full dynamic range might fix some of the issues with the general sound.
|
| |
Sandoval's kit sounds like he has a ream of soaking wet paper on top of everything
|
| |
But it doesn't really ruin the experience because the songs themselves are so good (except the one part in God of Emptiness).

Not often I agree with Snox but yeah I don't get the production complaints here. Good separation, clear and decipherable double bass without being too clicky, plenty of dynamic range (esp. compared to other modern DM), no single instrument is mixed too high, etc. Only complaint I'd give any credence is the bass is hard to hear sometimes but this is DM and it has plenty of company there.

IMO Morbid Angel haven't had an actually good production job since Altars, but because they're just so good, I overlook it.
Except Domination. That album was unforgivable.

but does this album radikult?

it does not sadly
tbh it's pretty much just the drums I have a problem with but they really do sound like complete ass to me, the rest of the production is acceptable.

enjoyed the single off this. will listen fer shure

Pretty unpopular opinion around here but in my opinion this band has never been all that exciting. Even their ''classic'' albums do nothing for me, really. I think it's because I dislike the vocalist. He sounds so run of the mill.
|
| |
I'd give this a 2.5 as well
I do like how the band name is written in black over the dark red on the cover though

I'm getting a lot of that blackened death metal/almost quasi-caverncore dissonance on a lot of these tracks, which I find super appealing. I may bump my rating. As far as the production, it's just very .... distracting. I understand the music is going eight different ways at once, but the production somehow amplifies that to the point where it's very hard to follow what is happening. And it's a bit muddy.

Well written review but I'm a more positive on the record. At first it may sound very monotone, but after a few more listens I started to catch the little flashes and changes. The more doomy, Gateway-like tracks sure stand out more than the straightfoward choppings but similarly to Heretic the production makes it a bit difficult to comphered just what is going on.

This has actually gotten better with repeated listens for me. I agree with the lack of solos and it could of used some more of that that good 'ol Trey weirdness.

Nice review man. Will need to check this out...sounds like a nice step up from Illud lol.
