There isn't really any bad song on this as far as I'm concerned. Even over a year later I'm utterly captivated by this.

Might be seeing these bitches tmr night. Depends on how I feel, been getting over a cold. Hard to "post-metal" when I'm stuffed up.

Their debut was great, it was the Oceanic/Panopticon B-Sides album i longed for.

On first glance the cleans sounded out of place here tbh and they were not that great too

New album this spring, took them so long to mix the thing it had been recorded for almost a whole year. Maybe that's common for post-metal I wouldn't know.

Maybe it came down to money?

Maybe but the vocalist struck me as a guy who’s very meticulous and methodical about the music he makes. Could just be he wasn’t satisfied with it for a while. The snippets they posted on insta sounded tasty.

Listened to this, this is great and indeed. Some tracks actually sound nothing like Isis, which is a good thing

Yeah I feel like they’re gonna move away from the Isis worship officially on the new one. The drummer and lead singer both worship Sumac (Ironic...I know) and those are the vibes I got on the snippets I heard.

Hmmm i don't like that tbh. Sumac does nothing for me. Most of the time this didn't remind me of isis and i still liked it very much

Me too I’m not fond of Sumac myself. We’ll see what happens in the end, I sound like I’m super close to this but I only know the little samples they’ve shared and some brief chats with them. I don’t know much lol

The closing track has a great shoegaze-like melody towards the end, what a beautiful way to end the album

Love this record. That vocal melody at the end of Ice Wrought is amazing.

Is Burial Dream worth checking out?

Yes very much so Pika. Less original than this one, but it bridges the gap between Oceanic and Panopticon perfectly

Burial Dream is a must listen if you like them. It’s just by far the closest in sound to Isis so a little less original. Their first EP is the only one I’d say isn’t as strong.

I don't gel with this one very much but Burial Dream does indeed own.
