I'd hate this sitting too close to space-rock too, thankfully the closest it gets to the genre is the synths and the astronaut on the cover

The title track could pass for a Starset song arguably tbh

Yo Sweeney, got a fix for ya.

"with very heavy layers production."

It should be "with very heavy layers of production"

Sounds about right. This was a fun listen. A little basic, but it was fun. Get rid of a couple tracks and this baby could almost be a 4.

Bass line in the Departure reminds me or Panic Switch by Silversun Pickups.

Apart from that one song this album was hard to sit through

The Departure is a complete ripoff of Panic Switch how did they get away with that

I hate to admit that I gave this another listen on my ride home from Ohio and liked it more than I originally thought possible. Album is a solid 3+. Still bothered by some things that I think they totally ripped off other bands

"The Departure is a complete ripoff of Panic Switch how did they get away with that"

They did an interview about the album and addressed that in it saying it was a huge inspiration and they wanted to take a swing at that style of song.

It really is exactly the same holy shit, no amount of influence can excuse such a blatant copy

They also apparently had the band's permission as well, so I don't see a problem with it.

technically nothing wrong with that, it just sounds really awkward

I wouldn't call it awkward honestly. If a band gets permission from another band to use one of their progressions, it seems perfectly fine to me. If they DON'T get permission however, that's another story.

It's not exactly the same bassline

It was still close enough to where FIR asked permission from SSPU to use the bass line.
