Yea don't get me wrong, I love how he sounds on Augment. Much grittier and more control of his voice. However the immaturity and looseness of his voice on Impulse was very pleasurable to my ear haha. Augment is their peak that they'll most likely never reach again

i can see that. i'm a sucker for those type of vocals in metalcore. the problem is usually the instrumentals aren't very good so when a band can do both well i'm usually into it.
augment is def their best for sure. this one has a few chill jams tho.

True, I can get down to a couple jams on here. Hourglass, Sleeper, Safehaven, and The Hypnotist are all quality tracks.
My biggest quarrel with post-Augment Erra is the lack of a strong vocalist (at least compared to Garrison who was a goddamn monster), plus Alan leaving fucked up the ying and yang thing Jesse and he had

I've always thought of Jesse as just tolerable with a few outstanding moments. Heart is definitely his best performance. Rebirth was great too. Other than that I just really feel indifferent about him.

Rebirth is my favorite Erra song, followed by Heart and then Prometheus. Agreed that those are his best vocal performances, but I honestly love his voice
Have you checked Ghost Atlas ever?

Nah I haven't checked Ghost Atlas. That's one of those bands I always tell myself to try out but I never get around to it lol.

Dude you gotta check out the Gold Soul Coma EP at least, it's fantastic. Plus you get to hear more of Jesse's range, because he goes to some low register notes throughout, as well as going pretty high like he used to on Andromeda.
Rebirth is their best tune [2]

yea Rebirth or Spirits Away for me

I just realized that you called their first album 'Pulse' in the review lmao

Spirits Away will always be my favorite track. Augment was their best work imo, but it could just be the nostalgic appeal that gets me.

I've been jamming Crimson like crazy

Crimson is heavily underrated, the riffs on that song go hard

Thankful that this was the first album I listened to by these guys, because I was blown away by it. After having listened to their first two albums, I can definitely see why long time fans wouldn't like this as much, but this is still an excellent album with some very passionate vocals, especially in Skyline and Orchid.

I only ever go back to Sleeper and Hourglass on this

Dis band way too metalcore crap to get in to and ghost atlas is too soft. Can this guy do another side project in between because the cleans here are so beautiful and perfect but the constant chugging and repetitive metalcore riffs ruin the whole band =(

You should get keen to metalcore, bro. The genre is in the best spot it's ever been in, currently. I could imagine Jesse eventually branching off and doing a side project though.

Jesse has a side project, and has had it since 2013 lmao. Check Ghost Atlas, it's stellar post hardcore/alt rock

Oh, I've heard the name tossed around on here but I never knew it was Jesse's music.
