I've been loving a lot of pop-ish albums deemed awful by the userbase this year
I stand by my statement that this is incredibly consistent and more experimental than people give it credit for
Also, it's memorable and catchy - manages to stay fresh over time as well in my experience

"I've been loving a lot of pop-ish albums deemed awful by the userbase this year" [2] as we both love Junk
It's definitely more experimental than their last album that's for sure, as the last album sounded the same from start to last. Same beat, same lyrics, same flow. I can appreciate what these guys did here but I don't think all of it works and feels a bit redundant at times. I definitely think that "Lostmyhead" is one of my contenders for song of the year though. Such Dead Cities vibes. Absolutely stunning track. Reminds me so much of "Gone" off that album

Really wish the bonus track How to Draw was on this over Loving Someone, which is really the only song on this that I truly hate. It is so cringe worthy but not even in a likable, self aware way like Love Me.
How anyone has anything but positive things to say about A Change of Heart is beyond me. I think it's the grandiose, John Hughes closing credits song this band has strived to be since the beginning. Also I feel like it's the only middle ground track on this that combines the synth goodness of the middle half and poppiness of the opening half.

It's so dang good.

Discarded this quickly after it was released. Just skimmed through it and actually quite enjoy it. Except for Change Of Heart. That got deleted. Was there really not a single person that listened to it that told them "this synth thing REALLY needs to go, it as aggrevating as hearing a crying baby"

Saw them live the other day and they were way better than I expected. From watching live videos, I expected Healy's voice to sound like shite but it was pretty solid. The setlist was brilliant too, they debuted "Please Be Naked" and shifted right into "Lostmyhead" right after. Not only that but they played some of the underrated EP tracks like "Milk" and "Undo". If you like this album, you should check out their EPs (particularly the Sex EP) if you haven't.

Ugh, but the crowd was awful. One of them sighed during the encore and said "it's probably another fucking instrumental". I mean I love their upbeat pop songs as much as the next person, but fuck me if Medicine, How to Draw or Lostmyhead doesn't go hard.

Randomly ran into the band outside a hotel downtown on my coffee break, snagged a few pics and chatted with them, nice blokes.
