MDB has never really floored me except for The Dreadful Hours.

a map of all our failures, turn loose the swans and the dreadful hours shit all over this, frankly

even their under-appreciated albums like a life of deathless kings are better than this

i have no idea what you guys are hearing that i'm not

Wasn't very fond of of A Map and TLTS is great but not mind blowing. :/

Yeah, TLTS, Angel, The Dreadful Hours and Deathless Kings are indeed better than this.

That's a pity, Evan, but at least you dig PL heh.

That's funny because I find it difficult to enjoy their 90's material. I can see how that can go both ways though.

I enjoy all their stuff, including the 34% album, but I like this band too much haha.

I know what you mean. I got late into them, so there was no growing up associated. This is actually the only album that came after I started jamming them.

I first heard “Your River” by MDB in ’95 or ’96 when my roommate made me a compilation of mostly Scandinavian and British doom. Years later I got Turn Loose the Swans. Your review genuinely makes me want to see what these guys are up to now.

Just can't get enough into this. I'm afraid it's mediocre MDB for me.
