Definitely Sylvian's worst album. His signature ballads sound uninspired, and the numerous attempts at absorbing other genres feel desperate. Very apparent that after the wonderful Secrets he was musically spent (until he re-discovered himself as an avant-garde artist on Blemish), the fact that it took him no less than 12 years to release Dead Bees... speaks for itself. Still it's not as bad as some people claim, the first 2 and the last 2 songs are up there with his best work.

Tyler.

dunno, maybe "desperate" is too harsh indeed. what i meant is that he tries new things here but doesn't seem to have too much faith in them, doesn't really know what he wants

i dont find this too long tbh, its 14 tracks, not that bad... gone to earth is far longer

but yeah this is one of my fave sylvian albums. its pure beauty spacey lounged out mystic jazzy tunes.... :)

im also a sucker for an atmospheric trip-hop environment and this brings it home hard

Agreed with Animals. imo this is his 3rd best behind Gone to Earth and Secrets of the Beehive.

I didn't like the last two songs much :/

Much preferred the two before that, saw them as the late album gems.

"101CollectorsRecords

The first ever vinyl release of @DavidSylvian58's 1999 album Dead Bees On A Cake was one of the highlights of #RSD2018 but with only 1000 UK copies many buyers missed out. A standard black vinyl 2LP version with different artwork will go on general release on Friday 19th October."
