great review jac, as always. might give this a shot cause i've been on a death metal kick lately

I'd say it's around a 3-3.5. Kind of got a bit stale near the end but the first half is pretty sick.

That art is magnificent. Heard a track or two from this and wasn't really impressed. Gonna give the whole thing a go tho

Very solid stuff, very ambitious but I think at times things are a little overblown-so much so that the band seem to focus more on atmosphere and bombast more than the instrumental/vocal performance. Then again, that's made up for by some seriously excellent riffs-particularly in my personal album highlights, "Calls from Below", "Abysshex" and "Onwards...Towards Kadath". I think maybe if some of the songs were a little less in-your-face (I know, that sounds really stupid), and more focussed on technical delivery, this band's musical pallette could sound finer. Whatever, still a great album in general.
