Yea, really liked Hail Destroyer, Mayors was all right, spun their cover of Sabotage a lot at my college radio station. They're certainly not reinventing the wheel but I like their music, fun energetic, cool riffs.

Got a soft spot for these party beasts, need to check ASAP.
You make it sound much more interesting than a usual Cancer Bats LP

I'd probably say this is their most interesting release to date. If you look at their previous works in retrospect.

It's just being intricate at any level never was their thing, save maybe for the initial basic idea of mixing hardcore and southern-tinged riffage (which isn't exactly ground-breaking either), they were mostly just various degrees of "fun". Case in point - "Hail Destroyer", a record as intricate and subtle as a falling brick but devilishly energetic and immensely fun to listen to.

I'm just a bit uneasy with the possibilities of a more unconventional incarnation of their sound. I'm all for innovation and seeking new ground to break, and I found "Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones" to be rather dull because of zero new ideas. But I heard "Satellites" when it was first streamed and wasn't particullary moved by the production. Robinsons mixes usually sit well to me but this didn't really. Maybe that will change with time, besides, judging by your review, this track is not really indicative of what's in store.

Listening to it now. Not sure what I make of it yet and I like halfway through. Sounds like a "grower", which is a good thing if you think of what most people's criticism of them is.
