I would call this the best hip hop album of 2013 if it had better production

I'd like this album a lot more if it was the deluxe edition minus the like 5 songs that don't fit/aren't enjoyable to me personally. this could've finally been an actual solid Eminem comeback album (!!!) but I'm just really not a fan of messy albums

comparing Run the Jewels to this is like comparing a highschool paper to a PHD thesis. Even with the 3-4 God Awful tracks on here it still is way better than RTJ. Never ceases to amaze me how much this site overrates beats, like you can make an album of terrible cliché lyrics and above average beats and you guys are considering it for album of the year..?

THe first RTJ was basically a fuckin mixtape. smh.

I also don't see why you care so much that there are a few bad skippable tracks on here. Skip them. You skip three songs on here and its still as long as Run the Jewels and has about 1000 times more substance and playback value.

I'm not saying you shouldn't rate the album as a whole, i'm saying you are being way too cynical. there are only 4 tracks on here that are flawed at all

Stronger Than I Was

The Monster (ft. Rihanna)

Love Game (ft. Kendrick Lamar)

Headlights (ft. Nate Ruess)

3/4 are flawed because of the featured artist and nothing more. Rihanna and Nate Ruess sound corny and sappy respectively. Kendrick Lamar is not meant for comedic rap at all.

Every song on the entire album has a purpose besides Love Game. Even though Headlights and Stronger Than I was have no playback value, and the Monster is an obvious pop joint, that doesn't make this album of 10 or so tracks of (including deluxe version) excellent-classic stuff, "average".

I just don't like messy and disjointed albums, and even as individual tracks I don't really enjoy Berzerk, Rap God, or Stronger than I Was. The Monster I think is actually pop Eminem at its most acceptable and Survival is okay too but they still doesn't fit on the album and mess up the flow so I'd remove them as well. He could've released those songs separately just to make money, but he didn't have to insert them randomly into the middle of something that could've otherwise actually kind of made sense being called MMLP2.

You rate albums based on different things to me; we value different things on different levels, and that's fine. I also can't get past many cringe-y lyrics on Rap God but other people love that song for reasons I can understand, so whatever. It ain't no thing man

I don't think people are being cynical, I'd be hard pressed to give something a near-perfect rating if there was one whole aspect of the album dragging it down.

"You rate albums based on different things to me; we value different things on different levels, and that's fine" its really not, you either subscribe to my rating criteria or we're gonna have a problem bub.

Yeah Love Game is pretty cool

If this was just the deluxe version minus the songs I mentioned it'd be at least a 3.5 for me, can we make peace considering that Lambs

Mfw this thread goes from 16 replies last time I checked to 39. I agree with LambsBread. This album is great. Mac Miller is bad.

"wait what love game is way better than the rest of the songs on this album"

honestly have no idea what you guys are listening to. none of your opinions on this album make sense to me at all.

The good by far outweighs the bad on this. By you criteria manfromspace you'd probably rate Dark Side of the Moon a 2.5 cuz it has a couple boring tracks.

The beats are typical eminem shit, hes always been lyrics-first, and has only had noteworthy production on SSLP and MMLP.

The album isn't that inconsistent at all, and I don't see what is the big deal about skipping the two sappy tracks after you got the message from them. It doesn't make sense to me to say RTJ is better just because 'it is more consistent', the entire album is just consistently mediocre (and short) so you don't feel the need to skip any one track.

And Mac Miller being rated higher than this is an absolute joke.
