Honestly well written; I can understand where you'd get these impressions even if I don't personally agree. I'd say the lack of vocal range fits a bit more stylistically with the overall vibe of a subdued, melancholic and minimal take on post-rock influenced melodies. I also definitely get what you mean about song length and developing ideas, but I tend to listen to this entire album front-to-back rather than pick at a song or two, and it gives me a different atmosphere.
I don't think it would be as mopey or emotive in the same way if there was more range to the vocal delivery.
