sweet rev dude tho chances are I won't be checking this. can give more detailed feedback (read: actually read more than every other paragraph) if you'd like
also Yak have you heard that Crying album I reviewed a while ago? it's free on bandcamp and like 15 minutes long, and they went on a tour with Elvis Depressedly about 6 months ago

The song you quoted in the review is called "For Tabasco Use Only" not Tobacco. Otherwise, good review. Pos'd. Listened
to the first song on here and liked it so I'll check out the rest tomorrow.

sweet, here we go!
one thing I will say is watch your "to be" usage. I don't think it's always a bad thing but you use some form of "to be" at least once every sentence in the first paragraph and pretty frequently after that. e.g. in your second sentence you can add the "poignant, raw, heartfelt" bit to the previous noun without actually using the is - problem partially solved! in this case, definitely think about how you can word your phrases so you use a more exciting verb. also it makes you sound smarter for some reason probably
(also just fyi if you want to bypass the swear filter you do sh[ size=2]i[ /size]t without the spaces)
your third paragraph reads just a little "matter-of-fact-y" if you know what I mean. part of the joy (for me) in reading reviews is seeing how the author can combine objectivity with subjectivity, as pretentious as that sounds, and there are definitely better ways than having a wholly subjective 2p and a wholly objective 3p. it's definitely not bad (and obviously this review is good cause it's featured haha) but if you want to get better that's something to keep in mind. particularly that first half of the 3p is short and blunt in a way that's just a bit difficult to read.
also I'm sure you can do better than "makes well-rounded use of cymbals particularly during 'Jean Simmons'." haha. it's just not exciting like the other descriptors you use
finally this is a personal thing more than anything but I personally think that in a four paragraph review quoting lyrics that much (i.e. that big of a chunk, but I'm too lazy to delete what I just said so there!) is an inefficient choice. it's definitely good to highlight lyrics but you might think of getting more to the point and weaving them into your paragraph instead of having a line break.
all that said this is a really solid review, gj and have a pos!

thanks brostep! good advice all around. As for the subjective/objective thing, I've had a bit of criticism that told me mixing the two in the same paragraph breaks up the flow too much... I guess I need to tweak it a bit to find the best balance
|
| |
yeah, definitely. the best writers can flow between the two really well but that takes a shit ton of work (I'm not even very good at it and I have the shiny-ass Staff tag)
