Have you seen the cover for The Truth Is...? It's disgusting.

I like Nickleback too to an extent, first time i heard these guys I just thought they were cheap Nickleback rip-off's. Good review Toon, one of your best imo. This doesn't really read like a 2 though.

a cheaper version of nickelback? that's quite an achievement

@Scuro How so?

I agree with Scuro, it's almost like you're afraid to state that you enjoy this. You talk about how you're pleasantly surprised on how it's not as terrible as past releases, but then you don't really talk about improvements that have been made on the formula. Also,
"But will there be ever a chance that I would be hyped up for it, nope."
This is strangely worded, and kind of an abrupt ending to the review. Maybe changing it to something like "Even with the slight increase in quality, there is still little to no chance that I would anticipate their next album". Idk, just some constructive criticism. Nice review.

Okay, I'll work around that. Thanks.
also...goddamn negs! :-(

No problem, dude. Glad to give my interpretation to other great writers on the site. Also, I pos'd because the review was well done.

I was debating on giving this a 2 or a 2.5 honestly. I was afraid of giving this more credit than the debut album, which I still consider to be their best.
|
| |
It reads like a tentative 2.5 score to me, but it's a nitpicky little thing.
|
| |
if you wanna keep the score lower, you need to address the negatives more in the review.

Probably not going to listen to this. The Truth Is... was indeed horrendous. "Bitch Came Back" makes me want to punch somebody, I swear.
However. "Drown" is great. Maybe a guilty pleasure, but I don't think it's anything too awful.
Pos'd and I love your reviewing style.

Good review man. Don't know why you're so surprised though hana I'd expect nothing less from a Nickelback sound alike xD

The surprising thing about this album for me is how it managed not to steep to the incredibly low level that they managed to put themselves in, and I honestly think that's worth mentioning. Yet at the same time it's almost every bit as predictable it could get for radio rock. Pretty much almost everything else that this band represents is still there.

"@Scuro How so?"
sorry I didn't respond sooner but thelastsignal pretty much summed up my thoughts anyway. While reading this I just got a sense that the album was average, especially since your concluding paragraph states; "It’s predictable album, but that’s probably the worst criticism you could give this." That leads me to believe it's average/slightly good. Your concluding paragraph to me reads as though you thought this was just another radio rock album with nothing special to offer but that it wasn't bad either.

There are a couple 2.5-3 songs among a large group of 1.5 songs.
Really, it's so absurdly overproduced

Okay, thanks.
So I've unanimously decided to bump it up to a 2.5 for the sake of the review, though I might change it back. I also rewrote the summary as well.

I like the changes, man! I'd pos again if I could. You're a great writer.
