To Tame A Land is an awesome song, along with the book "Dune".
The Trooper and Die With Your Boots on are awesome songs.
A great album but not as good as Powerslave.
Great review!

I'm sorry "cottonmaiden" but your post there didn't make any sense. And about Bruce playing guitar at the beginning (of what?!), I don't believe that regardless of what you're talking about. Well, I guess it COULD be true, but I won't take the word of someone as incoherent as yourself

Amen. Iron maiden was one of the best damn metal bands ever.

This album was my first taste of Maiden and I loved it.
I can't tell you how many times I played Flight of Icarus, the solo is just so damn beautiful.

This album used to be my favorite, but now I don't listen to it that much anymore.
Where Eagles Dare is still an incredible track though.

I really like this album, but I'll admit I don't listen to it as much either.
I like Quest For Fire actually, even though everyone shits on it. Lyrically, it reminds me of Helloween's Dr. Stein. It feels more like a fun song than a serious one.

It's only good when I'm in the mood to listen to it, which doesn't happen often. The intro to that song is actually quite cool, though.

The trill/legato stuff that they use in solos, I've managed to work into my original stuff and my soloing has vastly improved just from listening to this album.

Great Album, but it still seems daunted by Powerslave and NOTB. Piece of Mind has no weak songs but it doesn't have as much "stellar" material as those two albums. Plus it's final epic song isn't spectacular...but these are kind of anal complaints about a near perfect album.

WOOHOO 100 posts oops sry. I'm actually going to have to disagree with the last post by saying I think this album is 5 times better than NOTB. That album might have had SOME spectacular songs, but I believe this to be the total package. You are to listen to every song on this album and enjoy all the way through. They improved so much on this album.
