The summary I would've put on this would've been: "The album art says it all" :P

First disc sounds like it would appeal to me. Seether have never been a particularly good
'album' band, as opposed to a singles (if that makes sense).
Dat album art tho

Disclaimer was an alright album for the most part. Broken was definitely a great song.
|
| |
They do a pretty good cover of Careless Whisper though
|
| |
it wasn't hard to top the original
|

No way man, I really like that song.

I was never really interested in Seether honestly, I've been thinking about checking them out but I don't have the time or the patience for them. I've only heard a little bit if Disclaimer and it was okay, but I wasn't wowed.

Yeah, "Rise Above This" is on Finding Beauty...
@Toondude10
I was tempted to do a summary like that, but I kinda assumed everyone would do that. It seemed too straightforward for my tastes. I did end up bringing that up first in the first two paragraphs, though, so I guess I caved in that regard.

hehe, now that you think about that...good review anyway

Thanks. I will say that the cover art simply has to be addressed in a review of this album. It really is the elephant in the room.

This review reads more like a 2. But even that's a bit low, if you ask me. There are certainly some gems on the second disc.

Never got into this band.

Same here

This is a good review, but you are quite clearly biased against the band. You shouldn't let personal bias get in the way of your writing.

I'd really like to know what drove you to deduce that, since I simply was stating my opinion, which by definition is the backbone of a review.

I know that, but a review is supposed to be as objective as possible. At the beginning, by the way you talk about the band, it seems to me like you have a bias against them, which might put off people who are reading it.
But, I suppose that could just be me seeing that, because the review seems pretty good to me.

The beginning describes my reaction to the band's past discography. Their current track record of terrible albums is not something I can ignore, and after hearing this album (an album that I absolutely hated), my personal verdict is all the more valid. Since most of these tracks are from those terrible past albums, it seems more apropos here than on any older Seether album.
If this album was truly something valuable and something that I did wholeheartedly like, I would give it credit without a second thought. I'm not afraid to go against the grain when critiquing an album and no music reviewer (or reviewer in general) should be either. Hell, everyone hated Fall Out Boy's last album; I didn't and I wasn't afraid to say that, even though people clearly disagreed with me. I disliked everything Fall Out Boy released from Infinity on High onward and, based on that, I'd even label them as a "crap" band. But that label did not deter me from enjoying Save Rock and Roll. I didn't like it because I like Pete Wentz as a person. I liked it because it was a damn good record.
A band should be judged by the music they release and, in my eyes, Seether hasn't released anything of even the smallest bit of merit since Disclaimer. That's why I noted their sketchy history in the opening and that might be why it seems "biased" in that regard. But bad music is bad music, and I believe Seether 2002-2013 is bad music in every sense of the word.
Either way, I appreciate the praise.

It could be because I like Seether that I'm automatically inclined to attack your review. And I definitely respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them. After all, there are several bands that I really like that most of sputnik despises, and I'll never be afraid to "go against the grain" as you say.
You definitely did a good job on the review, and from what I've seen, you're a pretty talented writer. Keep up the good work.

Seether is one of those bands that I don't dislike, but could definitely live without. In my opinion, 'Disclaimer' was a solid album, but after that their albums became forgettable. Also, they are really boring live.

''11 years worth of effort for about 4 good songs'' is my title for this.
