this is pretty and all, but kinda samey-sounding at times

Had hopes that "brostep" would not be normal terminology in reviews by now.
Enjoy some of the bands work, they can be really hit/miss for me.

Unfortunately, he's never going to top the triple EP sequence he put out in 2010. This is his next best though.

Rudy I assumed it would be safe to say most of your reviews fall under that good 'ol indie-pop umbrella-- it makes sense for
you to cover this, but I wouldn't expect it either. Great work here though, even if you're only ~slightly~ out of your comfort
zone!

yeah that's true. it's mostly because i'm worried of deviant poking his kiwi head into my work

Review could have used a bit more background information on the nature of the record (via explicit mention instead of inference) to benefit the uninitiated (i.e people like me) but otherwise great review + will check out.

does anyone else read his name that way
no. never

Awesome review, first opinion on this album that I wholeheartedly agree with

Review makes this sound as I imagined it would
Nice listen that wears off quickly. This guy never changes is up is the only issue, all his stuff is the exact same.

It's not just your work that I'll poke my head into ;)

This is one hell of an album. I'm chapped I was across the world the planet when he played in my city this summer. Apparently his laser shows are amazinnnng.

The whole discog is so good.

I've got a friend who loves the shit outta this guy. I appreciate what he does, but the albums have pretty much morphed into background noise for me. All of them seem to meld together.

pretty lights at All Good festival 2011, will never forget

yeah i dig this album but it's not his best. i was the last commenter on the other two Pretty Lights reviews and didn't want to stack comments though lol
i always thought Pretty Lights was pretty meh and didn't understand why he was affiliated with the jam scene until i saw him at that fest. one hell of a time. it was raining glow sticks for the first 10 minutes of his set as well
|
| |
what don't you like from his discog? i think it's all pretty good. his three EPs from 2010 are all really nostalgic for me
i saw him at All Good Music Festival in 2011, it was actually a Deadfest and PL was the only non-jam band. it was right after he released "I Know the Truth", which might be the bass stuff you're talking about lol. i actually think that song smacks though and it was great rollin
