Sounding more like Weezer & Jimmy Eat World than All Time Low & The Summer Set, Arizonan quintet The Maine reinvent themselves on 3rd LP 'Pioneer'. Forgoing their previous pop-punk/pop-rock style - & major label - this independently released album carries a more alt-rock sound. While still catchy & accessible, the growth, maturity & diversity on show here is borderline astounding. It may be overlong at 61 minutes, but the strike rate is still impressively high. It doesn't quite live up to its title, but 'Pioneer' is more than a pleasant surprise; it's bona fide excellent. Recommended Tracks: Misery, Some Days, Waiting For My Sun to Shine & When I'm At Home.

Idk, this is good but it doesn't come close to the pure pop euphoria of You Are Ok and there's quite a bit of filler.
