I didn't try to make the album sound bad. I enjoy it very much. My second favorite album, next to Division.

After like 20 listens, i'd place this on the level of the autumn effect, i think its a great album and a major improvement on feeding the wolves, but it doesnt have the same consistency that divisions had

Comparisons to Chevelle are pointless. At this point, Chevelle has so many unbelievable songs/albums under their belt their discography is untouchable. Bands like these can try...and try they do =P

I'd argue that half of what 10 Years has done is better than anything Chevelle has done. I love Chevelle, but their last two albums weren't that great.
I really like how much MTM encroaches on dissonance; it keeps it interesting and unpredictable for me.

Iunno the way I see it, the reason that many feel Chevelle's latest two albums were not up to par is because they just don't have songs that match their old hits. But what they lack in classics they more than make up for in consistency (no dreadful/skippable songs) which is impressive for a band that's now into their sixth album.
10 Years has some great songs, but they can't ascend higher than anything beyond sounding derivative to Chevelle IMO.

Had no idea they were releasing a new album...I feel like Feeding the Wolves just came out.

Yeah I get the same feeling Yazz. But it's been 2 years already.
And thanks a lot for that Maniac. Your unsubstantiated insult is completely necessary.
Chevelle has been pretty consistent, but 10 Years is every bit as consistent. "Feeding The Wolves"
had a few "clunkers," but no outright bad songs. Same goes for "Killing All That Holds You." I feel
like Chevelle plays it too safe though. "This Type of Thinking" was a great album, and then "Vena
Sera" sort of dialed back the intensity in favor of a more accessible, "safer" sound which they've
had ever since. I mean name one song on any of their last 3 albums that has the edge that "The
Clincher" has. I can't.

I am leaving work early today just so that I can get this. I am pretty excited but nervous. Hope it owns.

Autumn Effect was fantastic, Division was the exact same thing but shitter and Feeding sucked. Will check this out though
Also Chevelle are consistently ordinary. They're barely better than the rest of the pack.

Division and TAE have almost nothing in common. 2 totally different records.

really excited for this. id say Chevelle and 10 Years lead the pack... but chevelles got the edge.

@benkim, lol what are you smoking? They copied half of the ideas. Sure, it's a bit more streamlined on Division, the lyrics a bit more straightforward and they threw in a piano ballad. But the rest is the same. Beautiful IS wasteland. They did the same bullshit second half of the song things in the same places.

Dude...I Get It? That song was an instant classic. But you are right...since Vena Sera, band is sorely lacking one of those but I Get It was right up there with their best songs.

@IndianaWarLord: A year or so ago I would've been happy to name Red alongisde the leaders of the pack, but that last album had "burnt out" written all over it. Maybe they'll redeem with this next one.

Kill yourself. Chevelle, until their last album, have been the best radio rock band of the last decade.

Chevelle and 10 years certainly lead all of this genre. In my opinion, Chevelle edges the lead out because of their slightly heavier edge. I didn't enjoy their last 3 albums quite as much (by that I mean i'd give them 4s instead of 5s, they were still good). I liked a few songs (roswell's spell, antisaint, same old trip), but less of than on the first 3 albums. I've like everything 10 years have put out except Feeding the Wolves, it was to straightforward and it felt like 10 years had lost their originality. Minus The Machine is great. Second to Killing All That Holds You in their discography.
