Sure I hear influences of metal in Tool. That doesn't make them a metal band.
Sorry to say but they are more metal than anything else. Everything else is secondary categorization. They have progressive and rock elements but they are much too heavy to be anything else.

Great review. I pisses me off too, knowing how much more Meshuggah is capable of and then watching them settle for extending periods of chug-yawn-yawn in some awfully predictable manner. I love their more spastic moments that smack you upside the ears from all directions.
