First of all, thanks guys, much appreciate it.
Bon travail, Voivod.
je te remercie Jethro, il est genial de lire tes comments ecrives en francais!
Finally, Voivod continues with Voivod!
Yeah, I'm finally through with the band's "classic" period, after doing Dimension Hatross i went on reviewing other stuff i liked, simply because i was 1) really fed up listening to Voivod (lolololol) and 2) Nothingface was really difficult to scrutinize in words. So i waited and waited and here we are...
The next four Voivod albums will be a real challenge, as they mark a really underrated period for the band, although all of them are really special. Plus they don't have a review here, so more treats are yet to come...
This a good place to start?
There are a lot of ways in getting to know Voivod.
1. If you like prog metal and thrash blended together, Killing Technology and Dimension Hatross are classics in that respect.
2. If you like that Venom/Motorhead-influenced thrash metal, their first two albums - War and Pain and Rrroooaaarrr - are great, however they feel under-developed, when compared to the aforementioned three classics, so be careful about your starting point, because if you start with 1. you will hate their first two (at least, the first times you will listen to them).
3. If you like only prog metal, Nothingface, Angel Rat and The Outer Limits are the shit for you.
4. If you like groove(NOT nu metal!)/industrial metal, Negatron and Phobos are awesome.
5. Lastly, if you like good but quirky metal n' roll, the albums from Voivod to Infini are what you seek.
Voivod's back catalog has something for everyone.

The return of Sputnik's resident prog thrash nut
haha nice way to put it onwords, I'm gonna use that as author name in my reviews, unless Jom kicks my ass that is.
Mekong Delta on the other hand...
I have and adore the whole MD discog in physical copy, gonna start with them, soon after i finish the Voivod discog
Also ever a chance of you reviewing a Prong album?
I'm not so familiar to Prong, although I like all I've heard from them, but i intend to delve on them in the near future, so there's a good chance I'm gonna write something about it.

The Outer Limits is what Angel Rat isn't (for various reasons).
An easy 4.5/5.

I don't care for this type of music but this review was phenomenal.

This CD is ADDICTIVE. Only Dimension Hatross is superior to this (in Adicctive-ness).

Does anyone know of any remasters or versions with better production of these guys' albums? I've been trying to get into Voivod, but the production (almost no bass, low volume guitars, etc) has made listening to their albums a bad experience. I remember having the same problem with Megadeth, until I realised I had the remaster of RiP, and then I heard the original and it ruled hard.

^that they do.
The Astronomy Domine cover is just fantastic, might even be mistaken for one of their own if you didn't know any better.
