This is basically what I wanted the new HANL album to sound like. A different approach to the dark and raw emotions of Deathconsciousness without it sounding repetitive.
and its a really fucking good album.

Better than Deathconsciousness if you ask me, though that one is great as well.

Nice review Chan. Didn't think your review would be up so soon, but it was a nice surprise when I logged in.
And I would say it might be a bit of a stretch to say this edges out Deathconsciousness. Still worthwhile though.

in time this could be better than Deathconsciousness. Lyric wise its just as emotionally real and keeps a fresh sound through out. Cant see Dan ever being a happy fella, so a new approach will be needed to keep his music intresting in the future.

Yeah this guy seems like he's pretty depressed for the most part.
Also, this is phenomenal.

I'm convinced that this guy is a genius, seriously.
I need to buy this... I have like 100 bucks, but I'm gonna buy a guitar, so I don't exactly have much to spare... Decisions, decisions.

i think this could have failed miserably, and just come off as contrived, but hes way too fucking honest with everything that he does that it just works.
that being said, this doesnt touch deathconsciousness, and if you like one of them, you may not necessarily like the other.

"may not necessarily like the other."
"I love both of them, though..."
can you read?
im pointing out that they arent terribly similar projects musically. if it wasnt dan barrett, and it didnt come with a book, it wouldnt be an obvious comparison at all.
