A sound all their own? If you are referring to the use of Death style vocals instead of BM shrieks then sure, I can give you that. As for the music itself, tons of bands play it, and play it much better.

the first track was really good when i listened a month or so ago, but haven't dug deeper. basically on account of 1 yr olds, women, and everyone at work not liking dissonance and all that. and i just cant listen to metal in my car; i feel really weird when a hot girl drives by and i'm listening to what likely sounds to her as demonic puking
