Honestly for what he does, he does it only alright. Nothing to get worked up over and this review's
RATING is much more closer to representing the album's substance

Sing for the words that you knew but they still made you choke

love ire and song was alright so I don't have high hopes for this since it sounds like he took all of what i didn't like about love ire and song and put it on an ep.

I kind of agree to be honest. Poetry of the Deed was pretty crappy and this isn't much better, although The Last Round is excellent.

Pass it Along is one of his worst songs ever, the lyrics are fucking boring as shit. The last two tracks on here are pretty good, although Rock n Roll Romance is mixed a bit too low.

"Honestly for what he does, he does it only alright." Please tell me who has ever done what he does better?

In sound braag and turner are very similar. But in feel and content they are completely opposite.

Eek harsh review, but very well done. Though I enjoyed this, have a well-deserved pos.

Cheers, guys. I honestly don't understand why people can't see the hate for this - he's gone from distinct, and yeah slightly corny stuff to completely generic, bland rubbish full of platitudes.

Seeing him cheerfully blast it out in the music video to 'I Still Believe' is like watching an old friend’s smiling corpse piss all over itself.
POS.

My sense of humour is quite caustic and that's found it's way into my writing on here, even when the review in question is mostly serious, but I'm not actually insensitive and I do enjoy naked and emotional lyrics. The problem for me here is that it sounds calculated, whereas tracks like 'Jet Lag' and 'Worse Things Happen at Sea' sound genuinely raw.
I think I moved from one tense to the other because I wanted to stress that the 'brilliant spark' is long gone. Will edit, though.
The mention of his guitar-playing is just there to indicate how significant the lyrics are in his work. I've seen plenty of reviews miss their mark on here because the writer didn't 'talk about the music enough'. I know most people who read this will know Turner's work, but some won't and I wanted it to be clear to everyone.
The 'Hear Ye!' thing... I dunno. It sounds ridiculous to me - it's the low point of an ep full of cliched material and serves as a neat indication of the direction he's gone. His writing on every record before this, even those of his former band, is in another world compared to this.
