havent listened to ildjarn yet; but having read ur review, is there any difference between this and other (tens of) bm artists that hav similar sounds as the ones uv identified in ur review - darkthrone etc?
|
| |
darkthrone is a bit more complex. think of bone awl but less noisy and more crunchy - also, more assuming too, considering I'm not that big of a Bone Awl fan.
|
| |
Bone Awl's Meaningless Leaning Mess is very interesting and so is this .
|
| |
This bitchen album is fucking fuzzy/raspy at the same time.
SO KVLT!!!!

I'm not a huge black metal fan. I personally didn't like this album when I first heard it. It just wasn't my thing. But something keeps drawing me back to it, I'm not entirely sure what it is though. So I thought to myself 'a black metal fan would enjoy this album. So I base my rating as a black metal fan.

but you listen to so many genres that have been "blackened"

Love how vicious yet simple this sounds. how this has a 3.4 average is beyond me

people are probably put off by the production. i think there was a negative review of this before and reviews like that tend to snowball into a lot of negative ratings that are mostly just kneejerk reactions. kind of like my wold review

if you had reading comprehension, you'd notice i said that recently
to expound on the comment there, however, today i'd probably not rate it because in general noise doesn't offer anything for me, so i don't know if i can really comment on what makes good or bad noise.
i also just find the conceptual ideas behind presenting music via straight noise rather boring and obtuse, but that's just a discussion of subjective taste so it's not really worth talking about

Meh, I stand by the review as a reflection of how i felt about the music at the time. it'd be disingenuous of me to try to erase who i was or what i thought before, and i'll freely admit that today it doesn't stand up. but for the idea behind it - a humorous review of something i thought wasn't very good, i think it works just fine.
you have to admit you could have conveighed that better. it's something i wrote, so knowing nothing else you have to admit it seems natural to infer a certain level of character attack.
i'll give those a try
