Eh, I'll have to disagree with Nag here. 90% of melo and prog death is terrible. Like Maniac said, OSDM is where it's at.

CCR is great, btw and so is the review.

Not CCR's best but a bit better than their debut.

Album starts strong with the classic Born On The Bayou. One of the best CCR openers with that awesome riff.

Good Golly Miss Molly is a throwback to the early days of rock and roll. One of Little Richard's finest tracks, CCR puts their own spin on the song and does it justice. Fogerty just kills it on this track.

Proud Mary is a classic that put CCR map. No question it's the strongest track on the album with a great chorus.

This album does have it's faults though. Two tracks - Graveyard Train and Keep On Chooglin' take up the majority of the album. Graveyard Train has a cool harmonica solo, but the song is drawn out way to long. Keep On Chooglin' is just a long unimpressive impromptu jam.

CCR only got better with the next album.

Their swampiest and grittiest... i love Graveyard train! man, thta atmosphere. For me their best, along with Cosmo's Factory, for its quirkiness! Proud Mary is the weakest song on this I'd say.

I'd agree with you that Proud Mary is both the weakest and also still enjoyable. This is honestly my least favorite of their first 5 though (Haven't gotten to Pendulum or Mardi Gras yet.)

I'd say Green River > Cosmo's Factory > Willy and the Poor Boys > s/t > Bayou Country

Still a consistent as hell band. To such a point where I can see any of the 5 easily being someone's favorite.

The only song I know from Mardi Gras is "Someday Never Comes" which is pretty good. But yeah I've heard that 6/10 of the songs on there aren't even sung by Fogerty and that those ones are all pitifully bad... can't wait haha.

I heard Pendulum is pretty great though. : )
