I heard some tracks, it's a shallow piece of garbage. Shame on the people giving this album anything more than a 3.0 .

Just got the whole thing, this isn't actually too bad. It's just way too long.

Imperial, music isn't math. what you say isn't fact, making you the shallow piece of garbage. It's ok to dislike something, at least explain your reasoning in some credible manner.

I think I'll have to give this album one more listen before I can justify whatever rating I give it. It think the highs and lows here are fairly polarizing. Excellect review by the way.

Great review. Also, I'm with you on "God Hates Us". It's okay, but, it just does not grab me like some acted like it would.

God Hates Us, probably had the best vocals but has bland song writing. It's almost like they said "Hey we need to be brutal again", then threw in some random licks and made a song out of it.

And one of the riffs is almost "Stockholm Syndrome" by Muse. Sometimes similarities like that lessen my experience- which isn't necessarily their fault.
But I keep hearing it and thinking "Hey, Muse" when I'd rather be thinking
"Avenged Sevenfold" when listening to, well.... Avenged Sevenfold.

Love the effort you took to come up with a fair opinion on the whole album, and how you respect what others think.

Havn't listened enough to rate, but i pretty much agree with what you're saying.
Also id be interested to know what you thought was clumsy about the songwriting in "Betrayed", I thought the last 5 tracks off City of Evil were all brilliant.

would somene like this who hasn't really gotten into them before?

Depends, what have you heard of them before, and what did you like, and what did you dislike?

the album is good but still i have the feeling that A7X lost all their inspiration after City Of Evil
self-titled was a crappy album, this one is better, but it looks like they were trying to hard to make an epic album that's why some songs sound very forced and boring
anyway So Far Away and Fiction are great

"Honestly I think Shadows' voice will turn me off of basically anything this band does."
I agree mainly with this^^^ but i will say that in some songs he isn't to bad and is at least bearable. I think i might check this out. I haven't been into them for a while but the guitarists are pretty talented and can bust out some sweet riffs from time to time

Saw them live two days ago, they were ok and Portnoy rocked the place.

I'm seeing them in December with Disturbed (ewwww) and Stone Sour (cool).

After making something like Waking the Fallen, I can't help but be continuously disappointed by this band. One of the things that makes you a good band is that you progressively get better, not crank all your talent out into one album. All albums after have been a melodramatic, pseudo-epic parody. pos review tho
