sick, inaccesible mixture of funk, rock and african rhythms; or soundtrack to a fever consuming city jungle; sounds great but i wouldnt recommend it for beginners;

Probably my favorite album from Miles Davis.

This is actually phenomenal after my first listen
if Jack Johnson is your jam then acquire this immediately and don't dilly-dally, fuck da purists

Great review! I used to think 'On the Corner' was obnoxious and irritating, but I got it as a twofer a few months ago with 'In A Silent Way', which is incontrovertibly incredible. I listened to it a few more times, and although 52 minutes is a little hard to take for what are essentially epically extended rhythmic exercises, HOT DAMN are those exercises funky. The drumming on the opening track is the most hypnotic thing I've ever heard; I can never get the rhythm out of my head for days afterwards. Maybe listen to it a few more times? It's damn accessible, but can really grow on you. Though I wouldn't put it in my Top 3 Miles records.

3? ahahah...man, this is a masterpiece! Miles and the boys on methamphetamine blends hard funk grooves and invent hip-hop beats almost 10 years prior to the first rap productions. The whole electric era is amazing.
