The best cure for "wordiness" is to print out a copy of whatever it is you are writing and read it aloud. A basic rule is if you have to take a breath in the middle of reading a sentence it's probably too long. Overlong sentences come off as awkward to most readers, even if the punctuation is flawless. Beyond that, also try not to overrun your content with jargon. Especially in a review, because if only 25 percent of your readers grasp a term, even if it fits perfectly, you've failed. Sometimes you have to forgo using the perfect word in favor of readability. That doesn't mean you can't keep your style, though. You just have to work on refining it.
