I love this album, even though it's not the Kiss we all know. It's funny but I usually like those "special" albums on a band's discography. Just to give an example, I like "Risk" from Megadeth too

What KISS records have I heard?



EVERY. SINGLE. AWFUL. ONE. Of them. INCLUDING Bullfrog Bheer, Lips, Chelsea and Wicked Lester. So there.



Poison are pretty awful too, apart from their first three albums. But when KISS are bad, they are REALLY bad. Carnival of Souls, anyone?

My first reaction to this album was that it didn't sound as bad as the rating suggested. Then as I got further into listening to the record, and reading the review I couldn't wait to never hear this album again. After a subsequent listen, and even a third listen I've come back around to the charm of this album. It's not initially there, and I think you'll have to give this album at least a couple of open-minded spins, but if you enjoy Kiss I think you'll eventually come around to this album too.

It may not be the best or the most pure hard rocking trademark kiss album but besides from that it's not bad it's different.I agree escape from the island is one of the better tracks I also like world without heroes,mr blackwell including a couple other songs but yes it has it's on and off bad moments in songs like just a boy.Honestly I don't think this is the worst kiss album it beats unmasked and crazy nights in the dirt at least there is some depth,musicality to it sometimes for the good or bad.

this LP is soooo unfairly judged. the song writing is excellent the music is the most complex in their history if you consider chord changes,vocal arraingments [good or bad] and the orchestra that was used. paul's attempt at falsetto's are laughable and embarassing but [dark light/oath/blackwell/escape] are great songs. its no threat to THE WALL/TOMMY buts its definitely better than anything from the 80s except creatures of the night........
