aside from haake, carey, and pennie, I'll add Mark Castillo to the list of fave's.... his work on btbam's TSC pretty much integrated blast beat, emo, and hardcore for the first time.

Fantastic review man, even topped your Mudvayne one IMO (and the Mudvayne one was excellent too). Take a pos.

I don't have this (or any other Meshuggah for that matter). What's a good place to start?

I'd say this check this out man, it's only 1 track and it contains everything that is the Meshuggah sound
Their album Nothing is pretty accessible but it's also incredibly different from everything else they've done.

If you can get through this and enjoy it, the rest of their catalogue will be a breeze

Nice review, dude. I would honestly start with Chaosphere, but if you want their later stuff, Nothing.

Chaosphere would be a pretty intense first album to check out wouldn't ya think?

I go straight for the throat, man. "Millennium Cyanide Christ" is a really fun listen.

I mean, as long as I fall asleep listening to it while watching basketball...I should be fine, right?

Sounds like a Meshuggah download fest is in my future...

Tis true haha

Blake: Worked on Ulcerate so ya should have no problem with this, just don't ask me what genre they are!

haha, I'll try to avoid that. Is it weird that I wish I could have a day where all I did was sit by myself and listen to all of the music I've been meaning to get through (with the occasional Sputnik surge throughout the day)? weekends are too busy and work gets in the way mon-fri...

Yeah, I have been on vacation since last thursday and I don't go back to work until Monday. Let's just say that I have been enjoying all my down time.

I sput while i'm at work so i'm not too fussed. But there's still a truckload of music I need to check out that I don't see being listened to in the distant future

^exactly man, I sput pretty much exclusively at work too (unless I'm bored at night and the lady's already sleeping). I find so much music on here that I want to check out -- I just don't have the time. I'll download something and it sits in my iTunes for like a week or two before I can even listen to it (hence what happened with Emery and Mudvayne Jas)
